i'll host and probably will hit the mountains in the weekend so turns will be played whenever

Would it be fine if I waited with hosting till sunday, since I gotta leave in a sec and won't have time to do it now? (Also I'm away for the weekend and might not be able to play any turns, though i will try to). Or you could host it if you want, I already hosted one game with tourney settings so I won't need so much exp there :p That way, if I have time during the weekend, I could just join and play my turns, probably wouldn't have the time to do the hosting.

we used the beta of the balance mod - let's go and use the last official release of the balance mod only, like we would in a tourney

Despite of hating my constricted mountainous and swampy starting area, I did get a nice string of luck at the early game right before our first battle - a fire protection shrine right next to a sphinx temple, cleared on the same turn as seek inspiration revealed exalted martyrs, allowing me to instantly research it and receive my first exalted. Right after that there was also a convenient elf shrine on the way towards the enemy stack. With a little road-building I was able to surprise the enemy with a stack of the faster units, though not without losing my leader and an elite black knight in the process.

The following attack gave me an initial lead due to the economic damage inflicted, though scary assassins forced a retreat. After this point my lead wasn't all that great tbh, I only had a few martyrs in my cities and no gold or income to make anything expensive. Fortunately getting prime evil gave my leader the units to go and level the martyrs.

During the game I had a negative income almost all the time, at one point I was selling buildings to stay afloat. I also never felt safe, even after fully destroying Xlnt's economy. He was able to roam and keep a considerable army even with no economy. :p

A great opponent, fought to the end and gave me good advice. If it wasn't for the early luck, I would have probably lost, since he is definitely the more skilled player. Always up for a rematch.

(Btw, what happened with the stack with a shock trooper you took the dragon dwelling back with? Looks like it fully deserted?)

Nah it's great, as you said it's very educational for me. You certainly managed to MC and/or otherwise collect a good amount of units even after losing most of your economy. That battle at my capitol surprised me, I expected to lose most of my units and not gain one more :p Must have been the AI playing like a moron again, didn't have time to watch the replay that turn.

Other than that my evangelists are the worst, I've seen Jehova's witnessess that are better at converting.

Sorry to keep this going for the extra time but i guess it's educational - as mind control can change the game in 1-2 turns. In this case i kinda lost my second chance when i lost that battle at your capitol with a good band of fly-ing guys that could have been useful as a harassment unit.. oh, well (:

Not much of a warhammer guy either, just found it fitting . Used to play MtG aswell years ago, still have two large boxes full of cards. Occasionally still playing some casual "drafts" with friends using those old cards. :p

Btw, that swordsman gave one hell of a fight for a heretic, he will probably be reincarnated as an orc in his next life.

 was this warhammer 40k something? i loved the mmorpg at the fantasy setting - Age of Reckoning. WarHammer is not that popular in Bulgaria but i have some friends doing the table-top battles every other week or so. I'm more of a Magic the Gathering guy and oh yes! Orcs must die! (;

The Divine Harbingers (note: not creepy angel babies) had been following some heavier-than-usual bandit activity at the outskirts of the Hallowed Imperial Domain for several days, so the Ascendant Army, led by Grand Imperator Benedictus himself, was sent to ambush the villains. These thugs, though driven back, proved to be slightly tougher than your regular scoundrels, and Benedictus perished in honourable combat, ascending to spend an eternity (or a few days at least) in the Shadow Halls of the Beyond. Glorious!

ok, not sure what happened - we're rogues, we went up a watch tower and scouted around, saw nothing and reported a camp be done for the night... next thing we see - orcs in the camp! Our leader goes puff, good thing that knight was trained as a real assassin - made their leader go puff too. Ravens send from the watch tower, it's probably being taken soon, so let's disapear and do something rogueish...

Indeed some racial backstabbery did take place, and to make matters worse, I finished a quest for them earlier in the same turn, and used their own reward unit in the attack against them. I bet even a rogue couldn't pull off such perfidiousness. Alas, they were heretics.

I don't need the rogue player's help in showing me who the real mind control class is - all the pesky bards in the ancient ruins around me have already made it pretty clear.

Obviously my scouting is working awesomely as well, since I already know of quite a few places where the enemy certainly is not located.

Game closes to turn 10, enemy found - so scouting is kinda working. Ravens bringing news back for some bad orcs that slaughtered their own just to capture a town... there was a 67/70 exp martyr but also a crusader in the uglies' army... so maybe the Exalted research was not yet found or finished - hopefully. Great match-up - i'll try to show the Theo who is THE mind control class  in this game.
