We concluded that even though The Sinners were leading in general score, their lead could not be considered significant enough to give them immediate victory. We thus looked at military score, where it was the same situation. Domain score was also similar.
In the end, with no significant lead in any of the three scores, we used the total score without any "significant lead" criteria, as planned in such cases. Fistandantilus and Warlord Keldon thus win this match! Please report and prepare for next round.
The Sinners were leading in all aspects, including ones not used for arbitration.
@Bastards of the North: sending you a PM regarding replacement of West Coasters

Marcuspers, Markymark and me reviewed the scores (from turn 29) received from Warlord Keldon.

So I suppose it should be me who should do it?
Also, from what I remember we started on the normal PBEM branch. Haven't even realised at which point we converted to the Beta...
After reviewing the issue, we came to the following conclusions:
- warning for all participants for using another branch of the balance mod and not notifying judges. As you can see, this caused grave damage because I did not know you were on the beta branch when we decided to update it and unfortunately a bug slipped through. If we had known (+ if you had unsubscribed as suggested), it could have been avoided easily. Bastards of the North is especially warned to be careful: you did not get clear consent from the opposing team to play with v1.22 instead of v1.21 (though they had to know they were playing with the beta branch as you need to check it in the launcher).
- Ezekiel gets an additional warning for using an exploit linked to the bug (Dragons from the Dwelling disappeared). There was a debate among judges about the severity of this. We should stress that if Ezekiel had not self-reported and for instance Keldon had reported it, it would probably have been considered cheating.
- regarding how to end the game, you can't continue because the save file is corrupted and Dragons are gone for ever. Revert is an option and was debated. However, the majority of judges decided not to go for revert because it would allow Ezekiel to replay his turn with all the information he collected the first time, meaning he could play it better. So the solution that was favoured is to use the scores from the end of the previous turn.
In both cases, the warnings are equivalent to "with proof" but we'd like you to be careful. This is clearly not an ideal situation...
So @Warlord Keldon: please back up the save files and surrender and send the score screenshots showing the previous turn to Markymark, Marcus and me. Thanks!
[EDIT] Please also send screenshots of the score of the last turn, so that we can compare, for information. Thanks! [/EDIT]
Finally, outside my scope of judge, as part of the balance mod team, I'd like to apologize again for the issue caused by the bug. To avoid this in the future, we won't bring new changes on the main branch that haven't been tested for at least 2 weeks on the beta branch (in your case, that wouldn't have helped though as we didn't know you were on the beta). We also now know about the .xml issue so other issues with the same cause should not happen.
Well, it should clearly have been reported earlier as it's clearly bugs and they are linked to the faulty update of v1.22 (Dragons were bugged and Charm was also probably bugged as its description was modified by v1.22) around the 3rd of November. It would have been avoided if you had played on the main branch as the main branch was locked until your match finished (until I learnt you were on beta branch so we updated the main branch, causing issues on it too...).
Need to discuss with Markymark what to do but clearly the scores are going to be incorrect because you took a Dwelling that you could not take without the bug.
Weird last turn
I had two weird issues occur to me for the last turn I played:
1. Our opponents had a dragon vassal sort of close to my home base that I wanted to check out with an assassin on that last turn. To my surprise the vassal was undefended. It was still listed as being a vassal. I don´t know if our opponents accidentially had it absorbed the turn before, but I guess it then wouldn´t have been written then that it was indeed a vassal?!? Playing against Fist and Keldon before, I find it unlikely that they absorbed something to then leave it undefended... I captured the vassal to check where those winged beasts were at and there was none whatsoever?!?
2. I had 3 bards in my ranks and neither of these could use the charm ability. They were of elite rank.
So yes indeed, WK plays normally then AlX plays his turn, backs up, surrenders, sends score to Mark and me and sends turn to next player to prove no reload.
IÂ thought it was AlX to do so as he's the last one in the turn order. can you please confirm Hiliadan?
We haven't had time to discuss the issue with the branch of the balance mod yet, I'm going to send the PM to Markymark now.
Meanwhile, deadline is there, so could AlX please confirm he knows he has to play his turn then back up the save then surrender. It's important, please confirm here or send a PM or something.
@Warlord: could you please confirm you can actually download your turn? The situation in the screenshot you sent me should not prevent you from playing, except if you had started playing your turn and saved & quitted, then the mod updated.
If the procedure after the deadline is not clear, I'm here to reclarify.
Also, we plan to release v1.22 on the main branch quickly after the deadline for Round 5 expires, that may cause issue to finish your turn.
I understand that the turn order is Fistandantilus -> Ezekiel -> Warlord -> AlX. So AlX should be the last player to play. Let's imagine the deadline arrives when it's Ezekiel's turn. The simplest solution would be if Ezekiel, Warlord and AlX could (temporarily) unsubscribe from the main branch to prevent the balance mod from updating, so that you stay on v1.21. That way, you can finish without any trouble.
If that's not possible, we'll figure out something else.
The reason we need to update ASAP the main branch - which is not ideal for your game, I'm sorry about that - is that round 4 of the Duel Tournament is apparently going to end today as Skuns apparently lost vs xlnt (not yet confirmed) and so we need to get v1.22 on the main branch so that round 5 games can start on it. We can't let them start on the beta branch, otherwise we won't be able to update it to v1.23 and to have sufficient time to test it.
The procedure for score victory is:
- when the deadline (see clock here: https://www.the-battlefield.com/aow3/index.php?page=tourneymain&tourneyid=5 ) is reached, the turn is played up to the last player of the turn (in your case, I'm not sure who it is?), then this player plays his turn entirely but DO NOT end turn.
- the last player saves & quits and backs up the save (copy the .apg and .~apg from C:\Users\[Windows user name] \Documents\My Games\AoW3\Profiles\[AoW3 user name]\PBEM and paste it to another place)
- the last player then opens the game again, surrenders, takes screenshots of ALL the scores, and sends them to the judges (Markymark and me since Fistandantilus is involved in this game). Then he sends the game to the next player so that other players can see there was no reload.
- the next player DOES NOT load the game.
- then everyone waits for judges' feedback.
REMINDER: the team with the highest score does not automatically win. The scores must not be judged "very close".
