This game felt really long, even though it was only 66 turns. I am not sure whether that is long for a 2v2.
What I can still remember from the start is that I thought I was doing pretty good. I was originally quite happy with my starting location, aside the scarcity of mana nodes: a big half island, which on land were only accessible through Marky. Once I had four cities there, however, I realized I couldn't expand more. North was all Marky's, and my only choice would have been over the surrounding water but that would have been way too far to defend to my liking. So, I didn't expand.
The first half of the game was quiet, aside the ocassional scouts. I crossed the waters with my leader army and cleared some easier sites southwest from Jean's domain. He also had a Giant dwelling. Originally I wanted to try to take it but I didn't like my chances against the 6 Ogre defenders (maybe there was some more standing a hex away) in autocombat (DrLight's pesky crow was there), especially since my plan was to attack Jean's cities afterward, and I didn't want to lose units. In retrospec I should have attacked the dwelling then because later it just became too strong, and Jean got too many Ogres and even a Giant from it.
Instead I split my armies, because I got Invisibility on my leader, so tried to see if I can scoop in and take a few cities. Unfortunately for me, Jean had a surprisingly good defending army (lvl-ed Cannons, Engineers, and some Priests), and it could reach most of his cities within two turns. I could only take one of his newer and smaller cities. At this point I had a couple of Eldritch Horrors, and were to summon more, but Jean kept "draining" my leader's CPs off turn. While we were playing hide and seek, and CP management games he got some Obsidian Dragons out of the blue. I was certain I dealt with any support that could see my invisible army as I was making my way out, but I was wrong.
He dealt with the survivors in a follow-up combat, which I didn't make screenshot of.
While I still had my Theo hero with a decent army, I didn't see a lot of chance, from my part, to be able to outrpoduce Jean military wise, and defeat him. He had tough home defense, he had three stacks, lead by two heroes, cruising around Marky, and he had his leader, presumably, with a good army too. The cosmic event, which prevets CP replenishment, following after the return of my leader didn't help either.
I started to build Ice Queens to have something(!). In the meantime Jean's three stacks, after destroying Marky's vassal in the north, set sail instead of attacking Marky. It occured to me that he might be coming for me. Which he did, eventually after taking a scenic route. I didn't see the point of trying to return my Theo for defence, instead I did some quests underground for my Vassals, after getting back my Orc vassal from DrLight.
Marky was following Jean's army movement on the shore, evenetually arriving near my throne. Jean didn't attack for a few turns. I figured out he was waiting for the arrival of his leader army, which I saw only a glimpse of. I didn't try to defend my throne on my leader because I knew I didn't have a chance, instead I figured, I could maybe.. maybe.. stop Jean's leader army before meeting up with the rest of his. I didn't manage to ambush him, instead it happend the other way around, and he had more (and better) than what I thought he had.
The end. I think it was a turn later when he defeated Marky's armies too.
Congratulation to our opponents, and especially Jean, for defeating the armies of two!
Welcome back Sin! I'm glad you are ok...
Get well Jean! take it easy
I am happy you are alright, Sin!
The coincidence is a bit incredible but starting from today's night I am feeling very bad, I have high blood pressure, tachycardia, a headache and I can't sleep. I probably need some rest too, sorry if I don't make any turns in the upcoming several days. If I feel good at some point I will play them.
The other army of Jean, going for the quest dragon. There may be a third stack I couldn't scout without possibly losing my hunter.
It looks like to me that Jean is coming for you. Theo level 12, Necro lvl 8.
@Mark Not at all I have enough games for now, though 1 of them is going very slow last time, by coronavirus strategy maybe I'm only saying that Jean is strong enough to play 1v3 against all of you But if you'll try to return to halfling strategy, maybe your team will have a chance to win
@All Have fun, I hope Jean will give you time enough for it
But Mark is very experienced and strong enough, I think. It will be a good training game for all of us, I also need to return to my previous level, I have lost it.
I will be happy to play with DrLight in team.
Be my ally, Marky, for once!
I assume SC is me, though I am more of an SA, or just Sin.
Teams, i think
1. Jean
2. SC
3. MM
4. Dr
Maybe 1+4 and 2+3, another said Jean + Dr and SC + MM. What you think?
