During the first match, I played Goblin Theocrat and Lightform Elf Necromancer . During the rematch, he played Tigran Necromancer. I had a nice start with 1 Butcher, 2 T2, 1 T3. My starting point was in the bottom left corner and circled by lava and undiggable cavern walls. So I had only one way out and it led me to a goblin city, which quickly became my vassal. We were then turn 8 and I met Lightform! who had 2 lvl 12 Necromancer, 1 Titan, and other nice units... I was about 2 turns away from him, so the game did not augur very well for me! I decided to go as far as I could and tried to produce Martyrs in order to get Exalted Martyrs later on, but I never had the time. Lightform found my vassal on turn 13. Then my capital on turn 14. By that time, I had gotten to lvl 7 and started converting. However, I made several stupid mistakes - as usual - like Iron Heart on converted unit and shapechanging with Mystic (lost the conversion)... Still, I didn't lose non-converted units and I was doing well - without capital and city -. Until, I screwed up in a Quarry fight against fuc*ing Draconian Flyers... I made some positioning mistake and planned well against the lesser flying unit but failed to plan that my T3 would be flanked and let the Flyer get out and kill my leader with a 28 damage blow (I had 24 HP or something). The game could have lasted many many turns and I would probably have lost anyway... But losing like that and on turn 14... Anyway! As Markymark told me, I'll do better next time!
Hey Hiliadan. I don't think you should sweat loosing to a necromancer in PBEM. As gab says they are nuts. I had two level 8 heroes + the titan by the end of turn 4, and as I was marching toward your throne I picked up 3 knights, 1 first born, and many other units. I had 2 T4 and about 10 T3 by turn 14 when you lost, and it would have only escalated. The necromancer is way broken and I just wanted to show you how badly so that it can be considered for the next tourney. Subsequently I consider this tourney to be failed.
Level 12 hero on turn 8 (the leader was lvl 12 too).
The final fight...
And my tactical mistake: exposing my leader to the incoming flanking from the flyer (I tried to convert his friend, which I killed after the convert failed). I had planned for the lesser flying unit (forgot the name) and put 3 units in front of my leader but it was badly planned!
