After a slow start, the game really took off after I researched Crows. I sent out 4 crows in all directions and made vassals where ever I could. Being pure good and researched Courtesan Ambassadors helped a lot! I found Blechhower in the 8th round, didn't declare war to damage my leaders alignment, found his throne and found him camped there with 4 units. Found another of his cities and saw another leader with 3 flame throwers. Gathered my armies and went for him, by the time my troops arrived, he had sent out some scouts and fancied his chances. We had a decesive battle just outside his Throne, which he lost with one stack of my armies left. Blechhower surrendered at the end of his turn. A good game which shows a lot of encouragement for Blechhower, he manged to expand and grow his cities quick and also his research was ahead of mine, but he left too little focus on his military and in the end it proved to be the difference.
I'm happy to hear I was of help! The difference between AI and Humans are very big, and I'm happy to share my experiences, and give small tips that could be useful!
I'm also happy to host a 2vs2 against the AI so I can see how you approach battles vs the AI, and maybe further help or give feedback. In Duels it's important not to lose too many units vs the AI, every single Tier 1 unit can be useful in battles vs the other player, as a meat shield if nothing else!
One thing that annoyed me in our game was that I never got to research corrupted killers, so my 2 elite scoundrels didnt evolve into minor shadowstalkers. I guess sometimes the spellbook work in mysterious ways.
Well this was my first PBEM and i'm very happy with my opponent Marcus who went over great lengths to explain anything i asked.
I lost quite a lot early on when taking a big neighbouring city. But as for the first time with a human opponent i really got spooked by the the crow-scouts (which i didnt even see half the time, but got border crossing messages). So i got swamped in my two cities and  - just as Marcus said - got into Military far too late.
As for this first Playermatch i learned a ton of stuff that im hoping to put into good use soon. I hope we can start another match right away!

Rematch agreed!

Looking forward to our next game!
