Lol no need to analyse how phirpo beat me, i give him easy victory this is only my fault . i must win this game for sur but i play cool for the fun like a noob lol
greenish and yellow = gab red and purple = I black = cave entrances white = sanctums/towers I cleared
I want to point out that, what made me winning the crucial battle, was mass bless and the HUGE investment into producing units. Only one unit that took part was mc. Gab made the mistake that he lost track of my leaders stack.
what kind of question is this? of course these are good spells. but you wanna tell me that it was particulary lucky to get those spells? The spirt elemental helped especially with the tower. for the rest it was not really necessary. and i only had 2 until the end of the game. i would have gotten another one in turn 37.
"Having spirit elementals and lots of mana, my situation did not look as grim anymore." "Now with a spirit elemental in my leader's army i cleared a wizard tower with great easiness, being hardly even scratched. "
Mass Bless was probably decisive in that specific battle but having Spirit Elementals seem to have allowed you to clear faster and more difficult sites that if you didn't have it, doesn't it?
But anyway, yeah, 2 strong spells from Sanctums is much better than Dire Penguin and Kobold.
no i dont think we should further decrease the mana reward. and this should also not be the place to discuss it. what is paramount is to nerv the theo and the rogue asap. their converting ability is too strong.Â
If there aren't any especially weak defended Sanctums anymore, I think they aren't too easy anymore. Maybe make the Shock Missile indisjunctable (?) If possible. We should rather decrease the reward I think. Only ~100 mana + Skill? Not sure what the range of reward is right now. And for me, it would be interesting whether you guys went for the exalted martyr strategy - how many got you evolved?
ps: i did not have a strong mana income. i deleted some cherubs where they were not indispensable anymore, to prevent that my mana income shrank too quickly. in terms of regular income, my balance sheet was terrible...
no, the first decisive battle was only won (with only one unit because i was slow in leveling up that theo hero) because of mass bless. i think mass bless is an incrediblly powerful spell.Â
i knew that gab's army was rolling for my cities, because i tried to follow his movement early enough. but when i decided to spit my army i could not foresee that i would crash into his base just while his leader will be in the void - i could not be confident of withstanding his onslaught anyway. But what i knew was, that it needed to happen quickly. Collecting more gold with my leader seemed like an idle business for me and i still had mana enough for a little while. there was also no other sanctum or tower in reasonable distance.
although i lost a frostling ice queen, a shock trooper at gold medal and other tier1, i still had a very powerful group of units without leader in the northern half of the map, that marched a quite lucrative route. after clearing a dungeon with it, the was 9 units strong.Â
coming back what was game decisive: i guess i was quite lucky in this game, but also considerably unlucky. it was crucial that the second production resources, that i found, gave me the dark citadel. that saved a lot of gold at allowed me to build or hurry shock troopers until gab's formidable troops arrived. frankly, i had hardly gold enough for that.
To know how good you are and how easy Sanctums still are, and whether we need to make them harder still.
You apparently won that game because of Sanctums, Tower Ruins and Sphinx Temples. I was hoping to do the same in my tournament game vs gab but didn't get a Spirit Elemental at my 2nd Sanctum.
idk anymore. there was no sanctum on my part of the map, or anyhow close, but the first one was in the center east and the second one in the center south. why?
when i saw how strong gab was, that he was more advanced terms of converted units and hero level and strutures cleared, i needed to do sth in order to compensate this lack in power. So i chose a kind of "lightformian" strategy: after vassaling the dragon dwelling, i hurried to clear a sanctum, not far away from gab. i was very lucky to find undead defenders here. Then i cleared a lost city in de UG quite close to gab's forces (losing a good tier2 in the attempt). he saw this and approached and threatened to defeat me there.Â
I went back up and straight to the next sanctum. In one of the sanctums i got the spirit elemental. Having spirit elementals and lots of mana, my situation did not look as grim anymore. Nonetheless gab was like an unstoppable heavy train heading into the south western corner, and i only hoped to lose not yet. Once i got spirit elementals i focused my research only on cp of course, so that i had 80cp at the end of the game. after having cleared the second sanctum, i was in need for gold because my hero- and leaderless troop, that grew each turn through 2 evangelists and that i had sent into the north consumed a lot of gold. and at the same time i was hurrying more units (evangelists, crusaders and shock troopers) to match gab's strength and in order to have another converting stack on the map. So i went south with my leader where i could gather not little gold. i also managed to convert 2 shock troopers there. I was then shocked to discover that gab did not take the ug way to my base, but instead was about to snatch my dragon dwelling from me. But i realised, this was not necessarily worse for me. I then made a crucial decision. I had the choice to go back with all i had to defend from gab or to try something more risky: to try to raise an army strong enough to face gab AND go towards gab's base with my leader's stack. i chose the latter, for obvious reasons: if i went back with all i had, i would soon dry out of gold while gab plunders the map. at the same time, if i should be defeated by his onslaught, there was still the chance that i can take over his cities.Â
so i dispatched one hero, one wyvern and one shock trooper to go west towards my base and the rest (6 units) went back north east. Now with a spirit elemental in my leader's army i cleared a wizard tower with great easiness, being hardly even scratched. in the wizard tower i got "mass bless". i then some one managed to raise a third army (another 9 units) within just a few turns that could indeed have a chance of defending from gab. after the wizard tower i cleared a sphinx temple which ensured that i would have a spirit elemental ready for the defending army before gab arrived. my cherubs then discovered, (first of all that gab's cities and fortresses were all safely guarded by 4 tier1) but more importantly that his third hero and its army moved away from his base towards south/southeast. so i quickly researched basic seafaring, with additional research effort in my cities, accepting an income malus of -90, because gab's cities were protected through a river that went all the way from the northern edge of the map to the southern. when gab arrived i had 12 strong units ready, but i still expected to lose. I just hoped, gab would not risk the fight and not clear the lost city nearby. he did not risk to clear the lost city but he attacked my army and lost! only my hero survived the battle. I believe mass bless made the difference. i then thought "all of nothing and crushed through gab's base, winning an 18-7 unit battle, and took his throne.
so you dont know where my troops are!? Â thats nice. Â believe me, gab, I dont do such dishonorable crap. Also, having divine justicars gives me littel reason to restart, right? but ok, next time i will send you a screenshot. for me, you dont have to do it. i just firmly believe that good players want to find out how good they are without cheating...
IF you have a fail upload you don't have to attack me ! May be you have attack with more units and lose the fight...
I am disappointed, I will continue to play but the next time does not attack if you have a crash. 30 turn without crash and just when I attack there is a crash I love it

All games vs or between top players need to be analyzed to improve balance.

Gab was stronger, no doubt. Incredibly quick in leveling up and cleaning the map like a vacuum cleaner, stealing one vassal after the after from me.
