You played on Large map so it's not 5-10 turns and it's very different from Medium.
But you did actually prove my point: if you play production well (like you did), you are ready by turn 20 (if your opponent does not do a super exploit of MC etc. which needs to be fixed on MC's side, not on production or map size's side), and there is no need to have 5-10 more turns provided by Medium.
Dwarf MH
Why do you assume I judge from one game (specifically I had prior experience with Dwarf MH and players expressed the opinion that they were "almost unkillable" in this game https://www.the-battlefield.com/aow3/index.php?page=resultinfo&gamenumber=1157 but obviously also on others)? Do you think I played no game and this is the first report I see? Also why do you assume more than what is meant, I'm just asking you your opinion about whether you think Dwarf MH needs a nerf.
Also, the fact that Dwarves overall are possibly too strong, or that MH + Explorer are too strong, does not mean that it's solely an issue with Dwarves or MH (separately): it can be an issue in the synergy/interaction between the two. In particular, Dwarves are supposed to be slower to balance out their tankiness. Their Cavalry moves 32 MP. They don't have racial units with 36 MP. So accessing 40 MP is different for them than for other races.
Just like you could say Tireless is fine on its own and does not make a unit OP, same for Total Awareness, and same for Life Stealing. The three combined on one unit is a lot stronger.

Yes, that's not possible to have a cap or to have a decreasing yield of CP gained unfortunately.

No. It is the same "dwarf" bonus as for other units.
MH in general in conjunction with explorer specialization? Maybe, but I find it strange to judge from one game.

Maybe. Farming 400CP in a few turns is fun, but doesn't look good if you play against it.
Would be good probably to have hard cap per turn or progressive scale for it, but most likely it cannot be implemented.

About army maintaining costs, expansion speed, map size and additional 5-10 turns difference.

100% blight, 100% spirit, 40% frost, 14 (?) res, 3 damage channels + holy champion, regrowth.
LK is a lottery - if you have spirit immunity, you can handle it, otherwise you either run away (if they act on first turn) or be ready to have your stack wiped.

How can you solo those battles with Dread reapers?
I know that leaders can be quite op at some point, but really.
Even I send in a some suicide T1 units to soften a lich King Castle I still afraid to lose a few units in my main stack.

- Essence Harvest needs a nerf (more expensive or a disjunctable strategic spell costing CP, or something)
- it should not be possible to do the 6 battles you added as screenshot (and I guess you know it, otherwise you would not post them) - how did you do the one with the Firstborn? That's impressive
Otherwise, very well done and well executed strategy. Clearly, I don't think the changes I suggest would change the results. But that doesn't mean they're not worth implementing.

Played on large map, land only, normal research, PBEM 1.30
Dwarf rogue hero, friendly town size neighbour. Good vassalization quest for firstborn, charmed ice queen and baby reed serpent (the only good converted units, the rest of the game was quite unlucky in conversions).
Rushed the second city early, absorbed my neighbour as soon as I could and managed to get “very happy” race happiness.
Built some production buildings and with “wealthy empire” reached 1 turn MH production in three cities (so 3.5 MH per turn). Two cities with “mercenary” and one city with “enchanted armor”. Casted “scales of fortune” on all 4 cities and started non-stop production since turn 16 (at turn 19 in all 4 cities).
Summoned/produced many irregulars, bought cheap units from inns and formed secondary stacks with them.
Got “summon obsidian dragon” spell and casted first on turn 23.
With additional research from wizard towers and sphinx temples, researched important empire upgrades and strategic spells.
Achieved centurion empire quest on turn 27.
Many battles with “essence harvest” gave a lot of CP to cast three obsidian dragons, draft, conqueror's feast, inspire loyalty and shield of dispassion before turn 30.
Conquered and vassalized some cities and dwellings. Had 7 cities and 6 vassals, completed “heptatopia” on the last turn and was close to getting a “multicultural” (4/5) empire quest.
Cleared many high level sites and got really good items for my heroes.
My leader had 21 def, life steal, 60% physical resistance, 80% poison resistance (could reach 100%, required to transfer some item) and was immune to everything else.
Researched master cartographer quite early and so knew cities locations and could track some Lightform movements.
Couple of turns before the end, I scouted his main stack with my rogue hero stack with dragons and feys and wanted to catch it, but it was too strong to attack with death march and next turn it ran away. So instead I tried to ambush some forces clearing sites near his cities and then capture them.
At the same time leader's stacks were preparing to siege orc’s city conquered by Lightform. There were 1.5 stacks of mostly T1 units and I decided to attack them with only my leader to minimize units and HP losses (I didn’t have enough MP to do that and so had to sacrifice tiger).
Next turn killed a secondary stack with warlord hero and heavily wounded exalted and also captured city.
Lightform has surrendered next turn.

Specific balance suggestions:
- Change dungeon damage enchantment so that only incorporeal are immune, normal undead still get hit.
- Dread reaper & khthonic guardian show up as site defenders. Why not arch angels? Added bonus, having to fight some arch angels would buff dreadnought as well.

I don't know if you understood what I meant. I am not talking about a hard cap by turn 20 of 5000 army points, it's impossible to implement anyway.
I don't think you are against balance, and I hope you do realize there is an issue with the kind of game you pulled off. It's almost impossible to win against what you did.
So could you please tell us what do you think needs to be changed to prevent this?....
Don't just repeat Dungeons and map. It's not the first time you pull very large armies very early. Actually you almost do it all the time. So it is not map specific.
Regarding site rewards, just help balance them and maybe your butt will be burning less often.

It is your opinion and I don't support it. I don't like artificial restrictions. Why do you even capped yourself with turn 20 and 5k points?
If you can reach it and even more - it is totally fine.
(if you still don't want to live without restrictions, change it to turn 25 and 10k and everything would be fine for you)
Army depends on the map. This particular map was rich and there were no opportunity for early attacks, so the only one thing to do is to expand.
Just for understanding, I took 4 dungeons before turn 20 and also got T4 as a reward.
In very few maps you can repeat this, simply because you don't have such sites. This fact also can explain higher score.

Yep. 3 sunken cities - 3 lords of the deep. And some people want even more randomness in the game, lol.
What is really frustrating for me is that defenders quite often are not correlating to the reward.
Sometimes you really break your balls trying to take sunken cities defending by lord of the deep, three sirens and two mermaids which damage you on the first turn and then... get some weak spell.
In this game all three sunken cities were defended by undeads.
3 wraiths (one king) and two banshees... 5 average units for T4.
The same with ziggurats... very challenging defenders 2 phoenixes, 4 tigran warbreeds and sell price is 270 gold.
For legendary sphinx temple you can get like 380RP or 500 gold. My butt is burning every time when I see this.

It gives additional research for owner battles. And yes, it shows battles "result window" for those which are close enough (16 hexes?) to cities or forts.

Regarding necro balance, they have far more going for them than other leaders. If the goal is to get them balanced...I think that's a tall order.
- Necro heroes have multiple forms of conversion, starting with lvl 5 control undead.
- Reanimator debuffs make ghoulifying units even easier. Other classes don't have curse + inflict spirit weakness.
- Raise corpse is a strong ability
- Corpses are strong T1s, having intrinsic healing w/ devour corpse and getting resurgence at elite
- Whispers of the fallen seems strong, also am i correct in understanding that it doesn't just give research but also lets keika know precisely which sites I'm clearing??
- Other strong necromancer hero abilities: throw curse, undying, reanimate undead
- Undead are able to clear high lvl sites much easier than any other leader due to unit attributes:
blight immune, high cold resist, immunity to fear/mind control/touch of death/swallow whole (tho not sure if this immunity is working for all undead or just incorporeal). As far as balance goes, I think this could be the hardest part to address...

Yep, keika playing necromancer is broken . Am I seeing that right, 3x Lord of the deep??? WHAT? 5x T4 units and 3x champion T3 with regrowth before turn 30? Seems pretty insane.
My early game was normal enough, didn't lose any heroes, biggest mistake was probably losing my starting T2 around turn 7. Somewhat unlucky in battles and conversion attempts, also felt significant pressure from Keika rather early in the game, lost some efficiency on running away or playing defense. I did get a decent economy going, at the game end started producing trebuchets 1/turn in main production city, as the city had flowrock quarry & i felt they could be quite useful vs. the blight & spirit damage of necro troops.
Kieka had a great view of said city from the magma, nothing i could do early game to keep out the prying eyes. I had a fun plan for it though: fairies. Took the fairy dwelling...and the game ended before i could produce a single fairy.
At the end of the game, my leader stack was mostly T3 spiders and had great mobility underground. Even if any of Keika's nearby armies were in range, would have great difficulty dealing with any of them between being outnumbered, 150hp warbreed (or that troll in the other), and the centurion lvlup boosting Keika got on T22.
Well done attacking the baby druid stack at the end. Would have been able to evolve some baby animals with the column of champions, thought Keika would have some troops in range of the berries to attack me there but I didn't expect him to already have a second stack in range. gg.

As I said before, I think it should not be possible to get 5000 army score by turn 20. You got 7000 by turn 20.
What do you think should be changed to prevent that?
Things I imagine:
- mana upkeep for T3 and T4 making it a lot harder to sustain because harder to get mana
- continue to rationalize rewards from site to prevent getting so much gold from clearing (+ maybe reduce the sale value)
- further nerfs for Necro (I should probably send the link to your report to core group members because some are resisting Necro nerfs)

Played on medium map, normal research, PBEM 1.30
Researching reanimator, leveling and evolving as usual. Scouted column of champions not so far from the starting position and got key level 9 on both leader and hero and also two elite reanimators early.
Was crazy lucky in early conversions and got reanimator, knight, warbreed and two draconian flyers.
With a few more produced reanimators I opened multiple fronts quite early.
Searching for the whispers of the fallen and casted it on turn 10 or so. That gave me a huge boost in researching. Next goal was healers of the dead, but I had to research all necro empire upgrades available before I realized that it is blocked by lower level upgrades from specs (for some reason I thought that they are treated separately).
Turns 10-15 were very hard. Each turn started questioning, can I survive one more turn without disbanding the army or not, but after taking a couple of high level sites and forming separate death squads I started banking gold.
Fighting everywhere, trying to convert in every battle, raising tons of cadavers, non-stop producing units, buying from the inns and getting as a reward, I dominated on the map.
At turn 20 I had 10 separate cleaning squads all over the map and my armies approaching the opponent from different sides.
I found opponent’s two secondary stacks by scouts and whispers of the fallen revealed two more main stacks.
With whispers of the fallen and master cartographer which I researched on turn 20, it became even easier to plan my moves.
At turn 22 I completed centurion and paragon empire quests summoning bone dragon and angrynarwhal started suspecting that something is not ok.
At turn 25 the map was explored by 90% and I think we could finish it in the next 4-5 turns, so I started consolidating my stacks together preparing for battles.
We were dancing with secondary stacks a couple of turns and finally I catched one group with the help of whispers and berries.
It was the only one major battle in the game, but after it angrynarwhal surrendered next turn.
Did you ever see crying cadavers? They tried so hard and they WANTED a great battle to be a hero.
I cared so much for my cadavers... 9 elites, 6 champions. Their brothers who were chilling in the throne the entire game are laughing at them now.
It was an insane game as a necromancer and I had 972 gold and 157 mana army upkeep per turn in the end.

Yeah GG Keika. You massed dwarf monster hunters from very early in the game using partisan for invisibility and eplorer for for movement upgrades etc. A formidable build well executed.

Played on medium map, normal research, PBEM 1.30, random leaders
Shitty map, we were both on the surface, not in the corners and so very close to each other. Half of my starting location was flooded by water, almost no gold (could barely maintain a second stack).
My vassal helped me a lot - his 2 gold per turn made my income equals zero.
Scouted merfolk dwelling and went closer to them waiting for a quest, but then the cartographer's tent revealed a frostling city quite close which was most likely the opponent's city.
Changed my plans and went to the cities. As a result killed guards, took two cities and waited for the opponent, hiding the army by two masters of the illusions.
Couple of minor battles and Lightform has surrendered - I came too early and he didn’t have enough shamans to counter my army.

Played on medium map, normal research, PBEM 1.30, random leaders.
AD first hero, friendly neighbour, but didn’t give me a quest in time and so was captured and absorbed.
With help of rune cleared sphinx temple on turn 7 and researched golems early.
Leveled up 3 engineers to elites to use them in conjunction with golems in secondary stacks, but managed to build only one stack with 2 golems, engineer and second DN hero which was able to clear ziggurat and dungeon.
AD hero converted a few animals and the main stack cleared 2 dungeons and another ziggurat with help of shrine and regrowth.
Shit happened on turn 16 when roaming animals attacked my secondary stack and killed 4 units including an almost evolved elite spider.
My main stack vassalized feys in the middle of the map and discovered a max leveled opponent’s theocrat hero with elite mammoth riders.
Stack was buffed by a wizard king shrine and was in one turn from the wizard tower which I was going to take myself in 2 turns.
It was obvious that he was going to take it on the next turn and I decided to set up a trap.
I concealed one stack in the forest with my AD hero and left only a little army visible.
Trap worked, he cleared the wizard tower and next turn I attacked his stack with outnumbered forces.
There was a shooting stars cosmic event active and we both had good morale with 15-25% luck chances, so the result was less predictable, but in the end outcome was really good for me. I counted 8 crits and 28/102 lucks in that battle.
Needless to say that after such huge win, I tried to end the game fast and so I went directly to the opponent's cities. Chasing his rest stack of units I wasn't afraid of ambush, because thanks to two artifacts I had 10 vision range with true sight on my AD hero.
There was a naga vassal on the way, but for some reason he didn’t place any units there to force auto combat and so I captured it easily without any troubles.
Two more turns later Lightform has surrendered without battles.

Map settings was ok. There were at least two underground entrances.
But overall it looks like map is a bit unbalanced.
There were no underground entrance near Mark's position (or it was quite far), also independent city was far enough as well.
The Settings of the game was irregular. There was no Unterground. Normal we have to replay this game. With Underground it is another game.Â
i'm okay with it.

Played on medium map, normal research, PBEM 1.30
Was not a really good start, quite empty resp, very few ok places for forts, only one ground way, didn’t find UG entrance near.
Bad starting army - only crushers, no hatchlings and so no evolves, found outpost neighbour late and got just another crusher as a quest reward.
Expensive apprentices, produced only two of them for 200 gold each.
So the only idea I had was to build a floating stack with my leader, phantasms and apprentices and rush/harras novo to stop his expansion.
In the middle of the game the situation became more or less ok. I vassalized naga dwelling and got two guardians, took a dungeon, a couple of high level sites and with units bought from the inn opened two more ways to explore.
Mana income still was an issue and I was able to support very few summons. I decided to play roulette and summoned a fantastic creature and it was a watcher.
My stacks were in the middle of the map on turn 18 when I noticed a built road. It was Novo’s secondary stack with bards and some converted units.
To minimize losses, I decided to attack only with one medaled stack with 100% spirit protection. It was 6 vs 8 battle, but from stacks position it was clear that 2 units will attack alone and die.
It was a chance for me to raze Novo’s potentially undefended cities and so I went to do that.
Chasing his retreating units, I took inn on the way and with new units killed a few more his units.
In the next few turns I razed fort and empty city and was ready to attack his throne.
At the same time with leader stack and second hero stacks I was clearing sites to earn gold to maintain my army.
With the second necromant hero I got level 9 and started ghoulify units. I was quite lucky and with inflict curse and despair I was able to convert a few very good t3 units.
I wanted to try to take the wizard tower, but then noticed that some sites were cleared on the near island and next turn the wizard tower was taken as well.
I didn’t see his stack except for one fey, but it was obvious for me that it is a very strong floating/swimming stack.
This stack could make a lot of trouble for me and counter attack my cities and so I even started selling my cities and was thinking about plundering them in the next couple of turns.
It didn’t happen though, because Novo made a big mistake and for some reason his stack attacked and killed some of my minor units (but lost fey however) when I tried to regroup and pull back, but doing that he gave me an opportunity to counter attack him.
On the same turn I captured his throne with secondary stack and 2 more stacks were in 1 turn to assist.
Overall I am not really happy with my game, because I underestimated defender strength a few times and played very risky battles on edge. Probably it helped me to win this game due to faster exploration, but potentially could hurt a lot as well.
