As DrLight, I too had a bad time fighting the neutrals. Many heroes and the leader died.
At first I think I had a good start, I earned early my first second city and cleaned up from neutrals the easiest places on my domain... however then I died again and again fighting against the stronger ones and explored very little map... which proved fatal, as after one of my worst battles I spotted DrLight's forces coming to my capital. At that point I couldn't stand against him.
This was a superbad game for me, I ended up losing all my heroes to structures, then I stopped all my research to try to get resurrect hero...
During the whole game there was not much interaction between DacrioS and myself, in many points in the game I had literally nothing to protect my cities. I did a strategy of mass producing cavalries to evolve them, this resulted in a decent heroless stack with some priests and knights.
My scouting was terrible, as Warlord and struggling with troops all game I couldn't build too many scouts so I never really knew where DacrioS was until late game when I built an Outpost and realized his domain was a few hexes away. From that outpost I built some scouts that helped me to get an idea of where his throne was.
I had my leader killed with my "best" stack in a wizards tower near his throne, so for a few turns I just kept my party there trying to slowly heal up with my priests until DacrioS showed up with his leader and a hero, I figured my heroless stack could be stronger with my knights and I won. After that, he left his throne unprotected just 2 turns away from this battle, so 2 turns later I won.
Confirmed by DacrioS
