At turn 34 I surrendered because I saw no chance for a comeback.

Turn twenty-something Mahimka arrived to my throne city with two stacks, lead by his leader and a hero. Fortunately I noticed his approach in time to get my leader and heroes there, and managed to defeat his army. Thinking I had the military advantage at that point I started my march toward his throne city (which I had an about idea where it was thanks to map reveal). It took me ten turns to get there, and by that time he, taking another route, was knocking on my expansion's door with his leader and two stacks. I took some of his cities, and at turn 34 his throne while he took what cities I had. That point it was clear that he had more producing cities somewhere still, and had more units than I, which I had no chance to match within reasonable turns.

Looking at the score board it turned out that what army I defeated at turn twenty-something was only a fraction of his, and he still had a military advantage after that defeat.
