Spiel #1217 | Jean is challenging Novograd/Keika/DrLight/Sin Arcain

Yes, I expected those mounted archers to be real beasts and they proved it. Never underestimate a mounted archer =)

I will challenge Novo but definitely not now. I am playing against him at the moment in a team game and I want to play against some other guys too. 

I'd say the result of the final battle is not that surprising. Only 1 Firstborn but 3 Mounted Archers, 1 Phalanx, many good ranged units, including Storm Sisters. The game predicts "Probable defeat" and it makes sense here.

Of course, you would not have attacked if you did not have a very strong advantage economically, etc. as you posted.

Congratz Jean, next time, you can beat novo.

While Sin Arcanim was struggling with his very unlucky start I had a very good beginning of the game: my part of the map was rich so I could clear many objects and build many towns. We had 3 valuable objects on the surface close to the center of the map: 2 dwellings (naga and merfolk) and a huge human city.  The nagas and the humans became my vassals.  I had excellent economics and was able to build 2 different armies: while the main army was gouling units and was slowly moving in the direction of my opponent  my secondary one (built mostly of sun guards and reanimators) was exploring the other parts of the map. 

On turn 32 I was ready to invade Sin's domain with three stacks and I could even avoid meeting his main troops:

I came from the north and was able to take his town without any resistance from him. Sin spotted me and returned to his throne city to defend. I used earthquakes to inflict damage to his city while I was waiting for the second town to be razed.

Then I launched the attack:

The main plan was, well, of course to hope that the computer wouldn't ruin the fight but in general I relied on banshees (I hoped they would teleport and force the archers to use they melee attacks while my other troops would be destroying walls and gates). "Bane of he good" ability from my heroes should also have helped in the battle. 

This was a perfect example how one shouldn't believe too much in his stacks =) Even though I had 6 tier-3 units against only one firstborn and my archers were trained lot I still lost the fight.

But overall the result wasn't good for Sin: he lost all the heroes here and the units left weren't able to do much with the situation. 

I am happy to have played with Sin, he is a very nice guy and even with such a bad start he didn't concede (like I sometimes do ) and continued fighting.

While I won that battle, as you pointed out, I am very behind economically. Earthquakes and rebellius citizens don't help either. I find it pointless to delay the inevitable. I surrender. 

I would like to say "good game", but I did so bad in the beginning (one of my worst start if not the worst), losing my leader several times, losing my hero too, so then it really didn't feel so. I somewhat managed to stabilize but for winning the war I expected it not to be enough but I hoped to put up a fight at least, which I did. That I am happy about. Well done, Jean!

Alright, now is the key moment of the game. I have 2 options here:

- continue striking Sin's throne city with earthquakes destroying buildings, making everyone unhappy and just forcing Sin to pass the turns since he has to sit within the 4 walls and can't go out. This will lead to my victory since I have huge advantage in the economy and can bring more troops. 

- make the game more interesting by attacking the city with my current armies. It might result in a loss since I can not control the fight and there are quite many good archers on the walls. 

I think Sin deserves to have a chance here so I will launch the attack in 30 minutes when I am morally ready to lose all the forces ;D Let's at least prepare a cup of tea to calm the nerves down when it happens =) If Sin survives the assault of the city then the game continues.

I just saw my name... I'm up for a game, but just to give you an idea, last time I played against Novograd he killed me like in 15 turns lol... So kind of a newbie here.

I can't. No play button. Perhaps if I update too but I first have to ask the participants in my other games if they have updated and mind to update.

I think there was an update of the mod yesterday. I usually auto-update these versions by just pressing the update button. It never breaks the game or something, you can perfectly continue with the update.

Sorry for the delay, I received the laptop only yesterday and now I have finally prepared everything for the work and games =)

Let's postpone the start of the game till Monday,  I was hoping to receive my new laptop today but it seems that due to the coronavirus the delivery service of the shop is overwhelmed.  And they don't work on weekends =( I'd prefer not to play on the old laptop because it sometimes crashes due to the overheat.

I haven't been here for a long time and I am happy to see new guys playing one of my favorite games. I would love to play a game against them. I might have lost some skills so I can not guarantee a high level of playing but for you it is a great chance to steal some of my ranking points ^_^. So, please, accept the challenge!

 As far as I know, players still use standard tournament settings in duels but I might be wrong here. We should clarify them here.
