I made a lot of gold on a map with heavy restrictions to movement and got some t3 units from race upgrades and taverns and we scouted with water walk and flying units while my teammate did a fast hero upgrade to lvl 10-ish on 3 heroes.
not a single battle with the opponents so far
We are discussing exactly how to apply that with the 2 other judges.

Summary
I've got such PBEM version upgrade message today. But all conditions are normal for this session and are the same as at my previous turn. So I played my turn. But the next player, which will be play his turn after me, may face the inability to play. If it happens, let me know about it. And I will try to fix it. Maybe even with tech support

now that we're all here and playing - we do a turn a day! Last night when i got home from work i had the game waiting for me with 3 hours left to play my turn!!! This is great - so i went and played my turn at around 19.30-20.30 and then - just before i went to bed at around 24.30 i had another turn to play (:

The judges told him by PM to put back the turn timer to 1 day (after he comes back), even if it means him skipping turn.

as Hiliadan explained - we have a situation (which is not the worst thing ever but is still something to pay attention and fix) and we also have an answer for it - now let's go do the action points assigned for us, right?

Settings include:
"Turn timer = 1 day"
Rule 3: "3. If one player temporarily cannot play his turns in 24 hours (e.g. because of holidays, or personal issues), and warn the host reasonably in advance, then the host should temporarily change the turn timer to accommodate him."
So the idea is that players need to explain to the host when they cannot play your turn in 24 hours. The best for that is that that post it here (on the game blog).
It is not in the rules but it is clearly much better if players check this game blog often and check their private messages on site often too, because they are the most efficient tools for the judges and other players to reach anyone involved in the tournament.
There was indeed a problem at the beginning and it was wrongly indicated in ONE page of the site that the round started on 15th August but all other pages stated it would start on 15th July and I clarified that here on the game blog.
Anyway, we're not trying to blame who played slowest, that's not the point. We just want both teams to be able to play under the 1 day turn timer from now on, except when they cannot for IRL reasons. So please post here if you have periods when you cannot play (like Skuns just did) but otherwise, please put back the 1 day turn timer. If one player cannot play his turn but has not said so here, please post to ask him what's up. Without answer, just keep the turn timer and skip his turn... We cannot wait for ever, otherwise the tournament will never end and everyone will drop because they will be tired of waiting.
If you are uncomfortable with something, please send a PM to the judges (including me) and we can discuss it.

Unfounded accusations
Yes granted there was a delay when the game started, that was based off the website initially stating it was an august 15th start. Thats not my fault.
Frankly besides the last turn (i was notified september 7th but could not take my turn until i got back from greece closer to the 18th) i have been very fast on my turns and have had to wait over a week for you and XLNT to take turns.
Don't go throwing stones in glass houses and making accusations when you and your partner have been just as bad if not worse since we have started the game.
And I don't appreciate all the harassment DM's you have been sending me. If I were american I would have already filed a harassment suit.

As for me, I don't mind to set 1-2 days turn timer. But at the start of this session I thought that we don't need it. And will this session be fair, if one of the players will often skip turns?Â
Now I'm going to working trip from September 26 for about 2 weeks. And I'm sure that I can't play until I come back. So I can't turn on the turn timer in any case, sorryÂ
as to why so slow:
- we started a lot later
- we had vacations to go to
- personally i play my turn as fast as i can - 4-5 hours after i receive it at most

In order to avoid advantaging one team or the other, for each match, the team who will host the match was randomly selected. The first team in the "turn order" above (who is also the team on top in the tree here: index.php?page=tourneyroster&tourneyid=5) must host the game.
Any of the players in the team can host. The host must play in #2 position in the turn order (please check rule 2 for more details).
