Deserved win for Eskild who played a neat and cautious game, leading slowly but surely to his victory. He had 1 Necro, 1 Archdruid who leveled up quickly and managed to get 2 or 3 queen spiders. At the time our game finished on round 46, he had started producing Draconian Flyers, the nice combo of Draconian Rogues! Their mobility was going to overwhelm me as I had been defending more or less 1 vs 3 for a long time thanks to a bridge underground leading to my 2 last cities.

Eventually, he had enough flying and swimming units to attack and I was lost.

So what led to this final fight?

I would see 1 key element + a sequence of events:
1/ I never got Steam Powered (http://age-of-wonders-3.wikia.com/wiki/Template:Steam_Powered) which is supposed to be 1st Empire Upgrade you get. It's pretty weird! I researched 3 Dread Empire Upgrades but never got it in my book. I lost at least 2*5*40 turns = 400 golds to it, but probably much more with happiness bonus and "income production" bonus + I could have had other mines.
2/ Series of events:
- I made a huge mistake by underestimating the strength of his AD hero, but above all, by doing 3 bad battles against independent almost in a row. My biggest singe mistake was to lose VERY VERY stupidly my own AD hero who had reached level 11 or 13 and had regrowth, because I f*cking failed to spot that the webbing on an Ogre had expired... By trying to farm XP too much, I ended up with my best hero killed, changing dramatically my prospect against Eskild...
- I knew his AD was coming my way but I thought I could charm some T3 while going in his direction, in which case, I may have killed him. The problem is that I didn't (or lost units in exchange) so I was just blown up by his army: my main stack was dead, with my 2nd hero and my leader...
- I never really recovered from that and I knew he would come for me so I tried to exfiltrate my leader but it was too late and he spotted me, leading a hunt and finally killing me because I was too slow (maybe I should have dropped the Trebuchet without cave walking...)

- At the same time, his AD and his Necro moved very cautiously toward me, I tried to face him off, preparing for what could have been known as the "Battle of Dhur Fahal" but he was too strong and I just retreated, to reach the point described at the beginning of my comment.

The score was in favour of Eskild for a long time but we can clearly see that my military score could have equalled his before turn 25 or something when my main stack got crushed.

Winhad turned the turn timer off but it looks like I switched off the wifi too quickly and it was not sent tothe server. I have no battery left now on my PC and no charger until tomorrow. Please do not play your turn. I'll reverse turn and remove turn timer tomorrow when Inget the PC charged...

Hi Hiliadan. Can and will you restart the turn? The timer expired for you and even though it seems like I have the upper hand it would not be fair just to proceed.

I'm going on a business trip until March 8 so I'm going to put the turn timer to 3 days to have more flexibility, especially during the long haul flights.

Interesting match! I think we'll need a rematch! (and we'll play against each other in the tournament too! )

I don't know how I managed to click that fast but I just opened my vassal's window to see if I could get a tribute and clicked "Prepare to be destroyed" instead of closing it. And there was no confirmation window so now I'm at war with it...
Don't know if you would allow me to restart the turn? Otherwise it's not a big deal given the current situation but I'm losing its income.

Hi Hiliadan. From the 21st to the 25th of January, I will be on a skiing trip with my work. I will not bring my PC, so at that time I would actually like the turn timer to be completely off.

I'm on a business trip until 28 January so I'd like to put the turn timer to 2 days during that period to have more flexibility, maybe 3 days from Sunday as I will be taking long haul flight.
